I find it interesting (and possibly peculiar) that Rhode Island is marked at 20.5k and Massachusetts so much higher at 189.7K, given the fact that Massachusetts was so much later to embrace religious freedom in its colonial and early state history. I am sure that there are many economic and social factors that would lead to the discrepancy, such as the prominence of Boston relative to Providence, and so on, but I wonder if there is more of a story here. Anybody else find any of these numbers curious? Why?
